Overview

SE Group provided structural engineering services for a targeted structural modification at the Georgia World Congress Center Hotel, now operating as the Signia by Hilton Atlanta. The work involved the design and engineering of a glass guardrail system along the Level 4 bridge overlooking the grand ballroom and public circulation spaces.

Scope of Structural Engineering

Our scope included the structural design and sealed calculations for the glass railing anchorage system and supporting components. The design addressed anchorage into the existing concrete curb and slab, including coordination with the glazing and railing system manufacturer and contractor.

The railing system consisted of:

  • Clear laminated tempered glass panels
  • Continuous stainless steel panel-grip base system
  • Stainless steel Hilti anchors into the existing concrete structure
  • Structural calculations verifying anchorage capacity, embedment depth, and load transfer consistent with code-required guardrail loading conditions

The project was completed in coordination with Skanska as contractor and Gensler as architect for the Georgia World Congress Center hotel development in downtown Atlanta.

Services Provided
